The terms "off-the- Plastic Grid " and "off-grid" refer to ways of life that are self-sufficient and do not rely on any public utilities. Some people may not be aware of these terms. Off-network living is as of now not a one room log lodge in the forest. It's independence from energy. You don't need to depend on service organizations, you make your own power. Today, there are in excess of 180,000 off-matrix homes in the US. We at long last got it done! We created a parking area large enough to turn a trailer around after moving our driveway there. We've wanted to do this for some time, and I'm so happy that it's almost done. Now all that's left for us to do is finish planting out all the dirt. You could see down into our house, the yard, the cars, and everything else from the main driveway. When it got windy or someone drove by during the dry summer months, the dust would continue to fall onto our property. So with moving the carport over, b...

Recovering Rock Pit Soil for Permaculture Now with Hugelkultur

Image
Although Gravel Grid was planted in the area around the house, the soil is compact and contains very little organic matter. However, some areas are doing exceptionally well as a result of the introduction of swales, geese, and other organic matter. We have planted some plants there and constructed a system and a small pond. The beginning of our food forest begins here. Progress is positive. What is a good strategy for dealing with the areas with little to no growth? My objective is to construct paddocks and high-quality growth areas for our chickens, geese, and eventually some goats. I might want to speed d up the cycle as fast as could really be expected. The "topsoil" results in other areas where I have added a lot of manure have been okay, but not great over the long term. They also required a lot of equipment and labor. We are currently reclaiming a former 3.5-acre gravel pit with my wife. My family bought the pit in the early 1990s and used it as a shop and storage for...

For the most part, gravel is preferable to concrete for a shed's foundation.

Image
As previously stated, Grass Driveway Grids foundations are our preference for prefab sheds with pre-built wooden floors out of all available shed foundations. Gravel is generally superior to concrete for a shed foundation. The advantages of a gravel shed foundation are explained in the following reasons if that is the kind of shed you intend to construct or purchase. By wicking away the water that would normally accumulate around the shed's bottom, a gravel base acts like a sponge. On the other hand, a base made of concrete cannot hold water. When it rains a lot, this can make problems with water running off worse. Concrete will also prevent the shed's bottom from drying out as quickly. When water from the roof reaches the ground, a gravel base acts as a diffuser. The gravel's rough, porous surface keeps water from splashing up. The water, on the other hand, quickly seeps into the ground. A shed with a concrete base will have water splash up against the sides. This makes ...
