Build a Shed's Foundation

The goal of The Shed Base Company, a UK manufacturer, is to become the UK's leading supplier of shed bases made of recycled plastic for use in garden buildings of any kind. Over 6000 plastic shed bases have been sold to our UK customers since 2013, and we are quickly becoming the best option for eco-friendly shed bases.

In order for the shed to open onto our back yard's concrete pad, we decided to position it on the side of our house. It would have been nice to put it in the backyard's back corner, but since there is a lot of snow there, that would not be a good place to store our snow blower.

We wanted to construct a sturdy foundation for this shed to ensure its longevity. Except for the gravel, these are our resources. We had to cap off the sprinklers and run a sprinkler pipe under our concrete pad before we could even get started on the foundation construction. We were able to complete the work on our own thanks to the fact that I've dealt with our sprinklers before. Before building a shed, sprinklers should be considered.

This is our Plastic Shed in its entirety. Because it contains approximately a million screws, bolts, and nuts, installing this shed took us an entire day. Additionally, since not all of the holes always line up during installation, we had to drill a few additional holes. This requires at least two people to install, and we were extremely fortunate to have a wind-free day to do so. Set it up in the wind on a windy day would not work. Using nuts and bolts, my husband secured the shed to the foundation. If this shed wasn't anchored down, I'm sure the wind would blow it all away, at least in our town.

On this side of the yard, the ground has a slight over slope, so we had to double up on some of the blocks. Simply put, leveling is my least favorite activity, but it is absolutely necessary !We had to spend an entire day just getting this level. Well, primarily because our one-year-old daughter dislikes it when we ignore her throughout the day.

Square the floor frame before installing the floor boards. If your floor is square, installing your shed will look much better. We used 3/4-inch untreated plywood for the floor. The floor for steel sheds must be made of untreated ply wood. Simply pretend that my "non-straight" fence is not in the background. It has been fixed twice for us.)
